Music and dance are ways of communication, and forms of healing and expression in artists and listeners.
Doctors are concerned with the health of the body, dance and music take care of the mind. Mental health is an integral part of the recovery process.
There is no cure that will make you smile. Movement and music will!
Movement and dance will improve your body’s agility, your range of motion and flexibility, your coordination while working with different body parts, and your memory as you learn new dance moves and choreographies and repeat them over and over again.
Music reduces muscle tension and improves body movement. Music may play an important role in the development, maintenance and restoration of physical function in the rehabilitation of people with movement and cognitive disorders.
The subject of dance as a form of gymnastics has been extensively researched. Most studies have been written on Parkinson's patients. In them, dance has been found to improve balance, motoric abilities, muscle strength and endurance, and cardiopulmonary endurance.
There are also many personal descriptions and stories about Alzheimer's and dementia patients who when they heard beloved and familiar music and moved to its sounds - there was a huge improvement in daily activities due to the development of areas in the brain that were not harmed and came to life following the pleasant emotions and good memories.
Due to short-term memory loss and long-term memory retention in most cases, age-appropriate music and the lifespan of a dementia or Alzheimer's listener can literally "wire" the electrical systems in the brain and stimulate positive activity that will affect all areas of life, and restore the listener's self-confidence Still has memories, feelings that arise from them and a function that comes from those feelings.
As dementia progresses, the patient usually loses the ability to share his thoughts, and make affectionate gestures with loved ones.
At the same time, it maintains its ability to move with the rhythm until a very late stage in the disease process. Here we chose to combine a dance of couples that evokes close contact, which will allow them to sway gently or soak up the music and heartbeat of the dance partner, and respond affectionately.
Music is a miracle pill that works immediately on those who consume it. There is no need for balance and testing against other drugs…
So much so that therapeutic hospitals have recently started setting up therapeutic dance halls around the world for the benefit of a large variety of patients as well as staff!
When we listen to music and have fun with it
We are allowed for the first time to experience the emotion from a place of release.
We may experience the true feelings that came up in that experience,
And we did not fully experience it.
The body may tremble, memories may rise.
Emotions slowly rise from a place of healing.
We may experience trembling in the body or fear
Or even the true feelings and memories
That we did not allow ourselves to experience at that moment.
What's important is to understand that things are welling up to be released
And free us from the pain that has remained with us all these years.
These were the body's defense system,
Until we can deal with the same emotions again.
Then something opened, and new air entered the lungs.
And we breathe again.
